Is it true that Dick caused Hartman's wife to relapse after years of being clean? and that this could be a major factor in her mental state during the awful murder/suicide? that must be a heavy burden to bear if its true, knowing you could of caused something like that. I live in the uk, and we never hear about stuff like this.

It was hard watching this. I know the cast were crying for real when they were reading Hartman's letter. That scene was not acting. Phil Hartman was a great part of News Radio and SNL. He made us all laugh and smile. I miss him so much. I can't believe he would be 60 this year. He was so ageless and funny to me.

his wife shot him 2 times in the stomache and once in the chest while he was sleeping. then she killed herself.. (Drugs) i dont rememner how he died on the show. im not sure if they even said anything about it..he was just.. gone.

I love this show. Have never seen season 5 though (wasn't shown in Australia, for some reason). I'm not entirely sure I want to, without Phil. I couldn't believe it when I heard what happened. Gutting.

I live in the UK and only know Phil by The Simpsons, we didn't get newsradio. I didn't know that he had died until I watched this a few months ago. It's so sad. Maura looks so heartbroken.

I watched this show all the time when it was on NBC. I really want to get seasons on DVD. And Phil Hartman was the glue that kept this show together, when he sadly left, it wasn't the same.

It was May 28th, 1998, and you're right, that was a truly sad and heartbreaking day for his family, his friends, his fans, and Hollywood. Those poor kids. His spirit lives on forever though.

You said it all. As I am watching this i have tears in my eyes. He would have wanted us to celebrate his life in ways that could only make us laugh. I can't believe its been 10 years and May 29th, 1998 was a very sad day. May he rest in peace and forever live on.
