Fleetwood Mac Albatross Posted by: mirageuk
Video duration: 186 seconds Fleetwood Mac, originally brought together by Peter Green, were a traditional blues band during the late 1960s, but their smash hit 'Albatross' had broader appeal. 'Albatross' and its follow up 'Man Of The World' were untypical of Fleetwood Mac's stage material, but made the band famous. I would love to get back in a band just to do a medley of this and Alman Bro.'s "melissa". Minus the great boogie piano.

A beautiful piece of music from before my time. If only the youth of today would listen.

What a great song. Yeah it was Pete Townsend who produced this. I thought it was George Martin who did...but I was wrong. One of my "industry" friends set me right. Listen to those strings..fucking incredible!! The message...40 years later, its the same damn thing. Are we ever going to get it right. God I hope so, I don't have that many years left. Remember, I was there when this song came out...You do the math ;)

The young skinny guy playing guitar is called Jimmy Mculloch I think. he went on to play with Paul Mcartney And sadly died in 1979 I think.Drug overdose.Sad,he looks so young and like he's got his whole life ahead of him.The pianist was renowned for playing boogie woogie, hence the middle section. This is from memory so dont get all excited if im wrong kids!!

1 of the oddest songs by 1 of the oddest bands ever put together. It winds up in dozens of movies and TV shows. It has a roadiefor the lead singer and drummer a 15 year old(at the time of it's recording) guitar whiz in Jimmy McCulloch who 10 1/2 years later would die of the very demons he railed against during his stint in Macca's Wings. And a Jazz pianist throwing down some fine barrelhouse piano runs to boot. All the while their svengali behind the bass strings and boards is Townshend.

It's brilliant to hear this again! It's one of my favourite revolution songs of all time. I met Speedy Keane in a pub in Notting Hill without knowing who he was, and over pints we talked music music music, then we walked round the corner to my house and played for hours trading songs. It was brilliant. What a gift. The production on this song withstands the test of time.....long live you, Speedy!

I read somewhere, Pete Townsend was behind this group and infact wrote this song? Hey you-tubers tell us your truths!!
By: 4minutesinmay. on 07 Nov 08, 21:50:32
the drummer (on the record) indeed wrote it (speedy keene) but in the video the writer speedy isthe guitarist and singer. the drummer is jack mcculloch, brother of lead guitarist jim mcculloch. the drummer and bassman were not involved in the recording. speedy died 3 or 4 years ago..........
