Edmonds' revelations of Turkish spies in the State Dept., to the Times of London, and the chirping crickets of the US media in response, are alarming enough for Congressional investigations and front-page coverage. The argument that this was a covert operation that loyal US officials and media outlets must ignore simply makes no sense: what, financing 9/11 was something we OK'd the Turks to facilitate??!?

Since the award is the PEN Newman award, he had to approve the award going to Sibel. Why would he do that if he didn't believe her? There surely are other people he could have picked.

Ron Paul is fairly moderate, even for a Republican (he questioned the Patriot Act), so I guess that's still OK. What bothers me is her constant "media baiting". Sibel Edmonds only wants the media to talk about Sibel Edmonds, not about the facts she knows. By insisting on being interviewed by a mainstream US media outlet (and refusing the BBC's offer), she is effectively protecting the Bush administration.

Ummmmm. Azerbaijan is a province of Iran. There is also the new country of Azerbaijan (which was also part of Iran's Azerbaijan province til ~100 yrs ago). She was born in Iranian Azerbaijan. This story has nothing to do with the new country of Azerbaijan, i.e., "old" Iran.
