how come no one uses elemental claws with Edge? Until Masamune and Murasame are available he puts out practically twice the damage if you pair a sword with a claw of an element an enemy is weak to, and with the fairy claw he kicks the living crap out of giants

That may be but Enix bought Square out. It's now SquareEnix. Doesn't that mean they go off of each others plans? For instance Enix could say "OH hey, how about just remaking a whole bunch of older games, and those poor saps will just buy into it again?" Did you even read his comment? See where Cagnazzo gathers water around himself? That didn't happen in the SNES version, he always had the water, he was always vulnerable to lightning, instead of switching between ice and lightning weakness based on the presence of water like the first battle against him. The same goes for Barbariccia, in the SNES version she was always spinning but you could hit her no matter what, unlike the normal battle against her where she had increased evasion.

None of the features that the EL's had in the SNES version when they were apart were taken into account into the SNES battle when they were all at once. Barbariccia was always spinning; but she took regular damage regardless when it should miss (except for magic and Kain's Jump attack) in her previous encounter. The DS version does takes the features of the EL's into account in this battle. That's the major difference.

Wha- Hey wait a minute.. The Four Fiends aren't going all out in this version like the rgular version. For instance, Valvalis/Barbariccia is always 'spinning' and Rubicante should be standing in his main battle mode unleashing litteral hell, Cagnazzo should be surrounded by a wall of water... and well, Scarmiglione looks the same - weak.. But still...?? What the hell? Did they get watered down...?

In the long run it doesn't really matter. Tauren have higher HP and an AoE stun so the racials are fairly useful in PvP. Although, the HP buff got super nerfed so it's basically the AoE stun you're after.
