estou curiosa... este orfanato seria de uma senhora espanhola que cuidava de varias criancas em Bissau? em 2002, tinha umas 40 criancas, e somente uma pequena casa... eskeci o nome do bairro onde ficava... mas ficava bem longe do Bandim... uma das particularidades eh que os funcionarios deste lar adotavam as criancas para que, em caso de guerra, pudessem ser removidas...

Spent a wonderful 2 weeks in the area around Binar just after the civil war. Was assisting schools with equipment, and also soccer kits, balls, goals etc. Lovely country and such beautifully friendly people. Would love to return....

Have you thought about Earth Bag construction for the highschool?? It only takes plastic bags and barbed wire to construct the walls, using on site dirt. Very inexpensive and very fast. I have been taught to love Bissau by friends who studied at the University here many years ago in Tucson, Arizona.

I trained with Gigi (shown in the video) in Cape Verde before going on to be a Peace Corps volunteer for a year in Bissau and a year on the island of Bolama between 1991 and 1993.

thanks for the gracious words. it is a wonderful country, and even finer people. what is your connection to the place? i do some work in Africa as a consultant and had the opportunity to do this, which was more of a vacation. i hope to do a few more assignments overseas in the the next year or so and want to document the trips.

Ur welcome & Hmmm.. Now that I think of it, Yes, male guinea pigs do sing more than female guinea pigs. I'm not sure why. Oh and two male guinea pigs cannot get along! Once, I put two of my guinea pigs togethor(which were both males) and they started fighting and scratching eachother! It was so scary! lol. But guinea pigs really do make good pets! =)
