Este é sem dúvidas o melhor vídeo que a Janis nos deixou. Eternamente a maior cantora do Rock and Roll e uma das grandes do Blues.

This is my favourite version of Summertime from any artist. I believe her crying pain and it fills my heart with sorrow, as she just loved, that is all she ever wanted was LOVE. I know that you are with the face of Love Janis, you are now with the angels, and love is forever found eternally--hope to see you soon, your fav fan--We will spread our wings and will take to the sky, that morning no harm will come to us, sheer joy in heaven

She had a short career, probably about 3 years of being "famous" and there aint that much material but there is enough if you give it to yourself in rations!! Try her live performance of Work Me Lord & Cry Baby they're amazing! Also see if you can get hold of Big Brother & Janis live at Winterland!

I'm 25 and I just discovered her on my birthday! I'm addicted now, she was so passionate and never had a singing lesson in her life! I like discovering artists cause it feels like they're yours!

when you get a quick look at the audience in this clip(suits and ties, not beads and long hair)the performance and response is even more amazing............a precious relic of the 60's and rare recording of Big Brother. THANKS

Yes! IMO, I've said: To understand Janis' scene, read Alice Echols; to underdstand Janis' career, read Myra Friedman; to understand Janis' life, read Laura Joplin. Three great books by three gifted gals ... about one super genius of a gal. Peace.

Both Janis and the band were at their finest in this performance - incredible. They were the perfect band to back her.

The tone of their guitars brings me to tears. Some of the live recordings. God, that is music.

Janis is one of the most brilliant and soulful performers ever to take to the stage. Good lord, how can we even compare her to anyone? She is the best.

Absolutely right. Janis' singing "I Need a Man to Love" here is breathtakingly phenomenal. Janis and Big Brother were "right" together. Wish she would have stayed with them. Peace.

You are so right. That one was my favorite of all. Much appreciated. Peace.

Also the book "Sweet Scars of Paradise" by Alice Echols which puts Janis in a very interesting historical/pioneer context

Why do presenters always feel the need to take the piss?

Janis' singing in this clip is live... the band's playing was pre-recorded... Still though, this has to be one of my favorite renditions of "Summertime" that Janis did live. Janis and Big Brother were truly phenominal.

Great book. Try Buried Alive in the Blues by Myra Friedman, and Love, Janis by Laura Joplin. I've read them and also, Going Down with Janis by Peggy Casserta. That one, I don't recommend. When you read these books, it gives you a multifaceted picture and understanding of Janis and her legendary performances and feelings about her life. Peace.
