Bob is the simple proof that music is made by MUSICIANS, not ACTORS. I think he's kinda cute, but he's not Hollywood pretty, and he has no need to be. Every song he gives us has depth and meaning, and evokes our emotions the way MUSIC is meant to. He gets it, end of story.

What a track, makes me feel better after hearing Bob's latest effort, 'District Line'. Weakest effort since 'The last dog and Pony Show'. It's so bad at times it sounds like Savage Garden.

The time Nevermind was in it`s creation stage, Bob was in a transition stage. He had alot on his plate. New band Sugar and eventual solo stuff Sugar would not du. The guy was out of a job and had 3 at the same time. Taking on Nirvana would have hurt everyone. I`m sure you will all agree it worked out fine.

Copper Blue is and will always be recognized as a "classic" album. The opening quartet of songs, The Act We Act, A Good Idea, Changes and Helpless are as compelling a 1-4 as there is, and Bob still ROCKS live and on record. A national treasure.

Everytime I put on that album, The Act We Act, man o man, I feel like the fucking ground is going to give way. What a fantastic rush of goosebumps. It's what pop music in heaven sounds like. One of the last great classic rock albums.

Debaser was released in 1989 on the Doolittle album by the Pixies. Copper Blue was released in 1992, which Good Idea was a track. Bob admired the Pixies and has been on record saying this was a tribute song.

Me too. Copper Blue was an incredible album. I'm not sure, but I think Good Idea predates Debaser by the Pixies. Also, If I Can't Change Your Mind is the pop song that Here Comes Your Man wants to be in a way. The Pixies are my favourite band, but the Husker Du/Sugar influence seems to have been forgotten

I've got really fond memories of 'The Beat'. Back when I was 14 or so I used to set the video recorder cos it was on at 2 o'clock in the morning or something silly like that. Then I'd get up a 6am so I could watch it before school. It was a great show and got me into loads of brilliant bands especially Sugar, Kingmaker, Senseless Things, Oasis, Bivouac, The God Machine, Carter USM, Gigolo Aunts etc. Those were the days...
