they didnt fake the alkali metals... the mythbusters only tested sodium and potassium, which braniac showed examples of in their video. and then did cesium and rubidium... they are much more reactive then sodium... the mythbusters still win tho :P

the test isnt fair. the amount of thermite when ignited is way more than the volume of liquid nitrogen stored in the container. they should atleast have a greater amount of liquid nitrogen. but im not saying dat liquid nitrogen can 'stop' the burning thermite. the burning thermite is juz too hot to handle if you know what i mean ;).

Liquid Nitrogen and the spinning ping pong ball

2 holes are punctured at a slanting/glacing angle into a ping pong ball. It is then immersed in liquid nitrogen. The air inside it cools. This lowers the air pressure inside the ping pong ball. Liquid nitrogen then partly fills the ping pong ball. The ping pong ball will start to spin as cold liquid nitrogen boils shooting out cold nitrogen gas from these 2 holes.

Probably didn't change the nitrogen/oxygen ratio very much. 2) Let's be clear on this, people: She jumped into WATER, not LIQUID NITROGEN! By the time she jumped in, any liquid nitrogen would have boiled off, and there wasn't enough to coll the pool more than a fraction of a degree, anyway.

jeez liquid nitrogen as it evaporates it acts as a asphyxiant and acts as a rapid frostbite on contact with living tissue so that woman would be severly screwed if it was LN. however it was dry ice, this when placed in water accelerates the sublimation process creating a low sinking dense fog, this is what we see in this footage

The metal bowl the LN goes into is conductive, so it's definitely possible that the bowl (or at least the air right next to the LN) will chill down to -297.4 degrees, condensing liquid oxygen right from the outside air and onto the bowl.

Oops sorry i accidentaly dleeted your last reply. The reason im using a PCI video card is because for SuperPI/wPrime/Pifast benchmarking your dont need video card performance at all. In fact it's less taxing on the system to use a PCI vid card than PCI-E

Its just a locking mechanism and it only prevents the vid card from being removed from the slot. It doesn't do anything while the card is actually in the slot (it doesnt help to hold it down/in).
