No crashes on the first flight is pretty good I think :) Related: align, heli, helicopter, rc, trex, trex-450 Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

That is the beauty of it all... each artist is free to express whatever they want. I like glue and scissors, others don't... meh. Whatever.

I've always been conflicted about the Penultimate modules for this reason. Multiple modules to create one model is "true" origami as long as it requires nothing but your hands. I don't think it requires just ONE piece of paper... But when it comes to cutting or taping paper...I tend to avoid it and just find some way to fold the flaps to make them fit for these kinds of models, even if it makes the flaps rather thick.
By: jasmine2501. on 30 Sep 08, 15:28:28
It is hard to explain... the cut is less important the the angle of the fold. You'll have to follow the link I gave and see if you can understand it from there. It is too complicated to explain on here.

how do know where to cut when you make the 90 degree penultimate unit? please reply or send me a message.
By: jasmine2501. on 04 Aug 08, 17:33:48
Yes, it's possible to do that shape with a few different kinds of units. I like the Penultimate units because they make a very clean shape.
By: ifckmepudding. on 04 Aug 08, 05:18:25
hmm thats a nice soccer ball, isnt that possible with "Phizz" units? it takes more i think but its the same shape right
By: jasmine2501. on 10 Apr 08, 03:22:52
Yes, see my previous comment about that.
By: y2clay14. on 09 Apr 08, 22:55:11
idk y ppl dont like to cut the paper. in order for it to be 'true' origami it also has to be one piece of paper. sssssooooo the cutting dosnt matter in modular origami :P Nice Vid Too

The big soccer ball requires pieces with different angles on each end. It's tricky, but you can figure it out. The angles are 60 and 72.5 degrees I think... not sure. I actually just eyeball it.
By: castword. on 19 Oct 07, 02:06:55
whoopie! I've made almost all of them now, except the tetrahedron and the last one, how do you make the big holes?
By: jasmine2501. on 02 Oct 07, 04:41:07
Read the web site in the video info and make 90-degree pieces and do a cube.
By: castword. on 02 Oct 07, 00:50:36
ok, thanks. which model do you suggest i star with?
By: jasmine2501. on 01 Oct 07, 21:23:14
Origami "purists" are against cutting, but then they are against using more than one sheet of paper too, so they are banned from the joy of modular in the first place and have no consequence in our world. So go ahead, cut. If you don't cut the ends off, the pieces won't go together as well, and the model will not look as good.
By: castword. on 01 Oct 07, 20:09:56
are you suppose to cut in origami?
By: Izzie40404. on 01 Oct 07, 03:48:46
Aww. I hate when someone cuts the piece. You should never have to cut something for Origami, because the whole style is supposed to be against cutting.
By: iegolas. on 28 Apr 07, 14:40:31
It's very interesting. I would like to do something origami in modules, like this, but the video only explain the first part... I can't continue... If you can make a video complete with one polyhedra I'll very happy. I'm spanish and it's dificult to understand the pdf document.
By: jasmine2501. on 25 Mar 07, 01:53:14
My Advice - DO NOT start with the tetrahedron... start with the cube. The 90-degree piece is diagrammed in the PDF link. The tetrahedron is too hard to get together because you can't fit your fingers inside through the holes and you have to do a little 'trick' to get the last part in.
By: jasmine2501. on 25 Mar 07, 01:46:08
That's what I did in the video - the 3 pieces are all from a single sheet. You can use any size paper, and you can save one fold by using a 4x3 piece. I don't like that method because it results in the inside of the shape being white (unless you use full-colored paper), but the parts are slightly easier to get together when you use 4x3 paper.
