Um, shooting a 5 gallon (20 lb) cylinder on fire...... it looked nice, but lucky the boat didn't sink :) They tend to missile like that. Or when you set it on fire....BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion) which would have made schrapnel ;) Current record I know about is a 30,000 gallon tank car flew 3600 ft or so when it BLEVE'd. So, don't try this at home kids. And, before y'all say I dont know what I'm talking about, I'm a service tech with a propane company and a firefighter :)

I work for Toronto Fire in the Communications Centre, we are about 2 kms from where the blast occurred. They felt/heard the blast. Front doors to the building are sliding doors, and the blast shockwave blew the doors open. This went to 7 alarm incident. My best guess would be about 65 trucks were at the scene. During cleanup we had trucks on scene 24hours per day for about 6 weeks.

There were ninja skills involved. Especially as I was with my huge friend. I was a camera operator for Reading Festival, but we took time out to see Pendulum. We got there late and trying to get through the crowd was incredibly hard. We had to tell people that if they wouldn't let us get through the show wouldnt start. It worked and an aisle was made for us :p Watching a 20 stone man climb the smallest ladders in the world up to the top was difficult though!

I am a truck Captain on a primary attack rescue pumper on a department with 98 full time firefighters. I have been in fire service for over 12 years and have instructed several classes. I can assure you failures do happen, no matter how much you test your pumps. The bottom line is, not putting on an SCBA for live fire training is simple laziness and a straight shot to get someone hurt or killed.

I watched them do this probably 60 times and not once did the fire "easily slip through the protective fog." BTW- I am a reporter, not a firefighter, I simply posted this because I thought it was imporessive. At every other training I have covered, they use the full apparatus, but the WPGA trainers (who do this all the time) didn't recomend SCBA...

hey im in the process of making mine right now but u can find non filled tanks at places like osh , home depot , and lowes or places like that. i made one from a used tank but dont do it because like he said you have to know how to purge it.its not the hard part, getting the valve out and tuning are hard though . hope this helped!

Well, I have made one from a used one, and my method of purging was to take the empty tank, and sit it in a bin of water with the valve open, weighted down with rocks, and as it took in the water, refil the bin until no more "bluhp, bluhp" sound. I then sat it upside down and very carefully with a hand powered drill (you know the old ones with the handle that turns the drive shaft) I pierced the base and the water hame rushing out filling the tank with good clean air.

Thank you for posting this, they do have a wonderful sound. I am wondering if you could spare a sec and PM or post your purge methods, I am thinkinking that soap and water would do the trick but dunno and am curious. Also, do you open up the bottoms? And have you tried cutting larger tongues in the sides for bass notes (like would it work?) 5star production and for giving credit to the origional creator :)

Buddy, first of all nice tutorial! Never heard one of these babies sounding so well! I would like to know if there is a way to safely empty a used propane tank (BEFORE cutting it, of course). A used one must be far cheaper to a first try. Would be safe to open the valve and wait the tank to be emptied and then screw off the valve? Thanks again!

don't these drums get out of tune when it's very cold or warm? and does the tune only depend on the size of the pads? or also on the postion... the angle (which may be changed accidentally by hitting very strongly(?)). I also want to build one, but if I can't use it anymore after 3 weeks, the work is not worth it for me. Soo please help me ;)

i dont just listen to drum & bass, i listen to all music, but this is a great tune, and pendulum have a few other good songs. it annoys me when people get ripped when "they fall into COMMERCIALISM", its because they are the best at what they do, theyve made the best tunes, so alot more people like them... funny when they say names who are supposedly better, and they never are they sound cheap compared to pendulum. just support them, dont hate them because they have new fans.

I watched my friend blow up a small coleman propane tank when I was in high school. He wrapped it in a towel and soaked the towel in mineral spirits. Then he lit the towel on fire and ran a few hundred feet. After a few minutes it started whistling and spewing a 5 foot long flame. Then the fire stopped abruptly and a split second later the sound waves hit our location. It was incredibly loud, like lightning had hit the ground close by. Very scary and powerful stuff!
