I agree with you, and will take your comment one step further...many male rock stars took their sound from Janis. Bon Scott, Robert Plant, Axl Rose, Dan McCafferty. None gave her credit unfortunately. In that regard she was seriously overlooked. Peace.

I read the contrary. I read that she was so "out of it" they had to postpone her show for 8 hours while she sobered up. It is in a few books on her, Buried Alive in the Blues by Myra Friedman, Pearl the Obsessions and Passions of Janis Joplin, by David Dalton and Scars of Sweet Paradise by Alice Echols. I would love to know where your info came from it would be wonderful to know she was clean at this time! Peace.

When she was at woodstock, she was rested, ready and 90 days sober. Imagine if she had been able to maintain instead of "living fast, dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse."

Of todays singers, I love Christina Aguilera because she is about the closest one to having this kind of soul ... but no one today can come close to topping Janis Joplin! RIP Janis, you live on in our hearts and souls!

Janis! As great as she is here, she was even better in smaller venues. When she saw the huge crowd at Woodstock, she actually got nervous. You'd never know it from this performance!

Janis Joplin is the greatest ever. She has more soul in her pinky than most do in their whole body. The Queen!!!
