I just took a course in A.I. at the University and the A.I. has nothing to do with difficulty in a game. The NPCs could just be aware of your position at all times and be prepared to fire at you as soon as you round the corner, but Valve didn't choose that for the "easy" difficulty (if you wanna play on easy so much :). They didn't do that for hard either because it's stupid. The A.I. is what you make of it, it's only limited by what the game developers wanted, really.

Also you're not playing a game right if you're focusing on the graphics, in my opinion. Graphics to me are a luxury plus, at most (not because of my system, which is up-to-par) but a game should be fun because of what you can do, and the adventure, not the surface. But if the graphics are nice, I go DAYM, it has this TOO! But if graphics are good and game sucks, who's going to buy that crap? The sheer adventure of the HL2 series is stunning.

Have you seen the latest source engine render games? Left4Dead? The source engine is not the Dunia engine or Unreal3 engine or CryEngine 2, obviously, those engines are amazing. But what they also are is terribly inefficient. The source engine's beauty-to-system-requirements ratio is incredible and is the whole reason why I have so much respect for Valve and their games. I think Half-Life 2 STILL looks great, for example--after 4 years! Not to mention EP2.

I agree to a certain extent. The guys at valve are able to do some incredible things with whatever technology is at hand, and with th amount of money they have why aren't they using the technology at hand? Episode 3 better be incredible.

well a new king is in tell, the Dunia engine for Far Cry 2 puts the Source to shame. You don't get it, Half Life 2 is let down by a crappy engine. Imagine what Valve can do if they had the Unreal 3 or Dunia engine to tinkel with. And also the animation in Half Life 2 is so gay, and the A.I is shit as well, the A.I in Far Cry 2 on Easy is way harder to deal with then the idiots you shoot at in HL2.

Is NOT in USA, and dosn't resemble it at all. The location is on Eastern Europe, therefore, Black Mesa EAST (East from New Mexico facility, on Europe). it does not need to be a real city it looks like a combination of architecture but if it was a real city then its either Moscow or St. Petersburgh, and its a fact that i read on website from the developers that they used exact russian architecture, even all teh signs in game have russian markings on them

Black Mesa is in New Mexico. In Half Life 2 he appears in city 17. In the level Red letter Day you have to find Black Mesa East,and Eli even says it is.
