I ften doubted Roger Waters. His out of key singing in particular compared to Gilmour but this song convinced me. He's the one who had the ideas, no question and despite his limited vocal range he can act a musical part and that's what made Animals (particularly the second half of Dogs - angst driven), The Wall and The Final Cut, my favourite Floyd albums by a mile.

I disagree. I think that both PF's releases and Waters' releases have their strengths. As it happens, the Division Bell is one of my favourite PF ablums; and Amused to Death is my favourite Waters solo album.

I think Roger Waters is amazing too I really like his solo albums, better than Gilmour's solo. But post-Waters Pink Floyd albums were good too I think and offer the relaxation from several "heavy" Waters-led albums. I think you could say Roger Waters was the driving force of PF but Gilmour was an essential ingredient.

You seem a clever guy, but, think what you will roger Waters is and always been the driving force behind the success of pink floyd , I have been a floyd fan since i saw them perform "eclipse" in 1972,Listen to Rogers solo work and compare it to anything the surrogate Floyd have done,I am sure you will come up with an argument why we should all revere david, personally i think his solo work is quite embarrasing, while AMD and Flickering flame will be known as classics. Here's a comparison: If you say Roger Waters was responsible for Pink Floyd's success it's like saying light is a particle. Saying David Gilmour was responsible for it's success it's like saying light is a wave. They are both true though, both David Gilmour and Roger Waters produced high quality music when they were solo, and in a group they made maybe even better music. Truth is you need Gilmour's Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason to "relax" from Waters' heavy Final Cut.

yes you are right about that. Before those albums gilmour wright and mason had more influence in the music. I think a made a mistake, or "we", when someone say that, only because waters, since dsotm, wrote the entire lyrics. And i think its a stupid thing to say who was pink floyd.

Indeed, what you say may be true about AtD and The Wall. Given how The Wall was a very atypical Pink Floyd album, I fail to see how this helps your argument about Waters being Pink Floyd. Unless the only Pink Floyd albums you listened to were The Wall, The Final Cut and Animals.

I think Waters turned away from the classic Pink Floyd sound starting with The Wall. The lyrics became more literal, political and angry, and the music less sophisticated. Each Small Candle is a good song though. His live concerts also don't sound much like Pink Floyd, mainly because of his poor choice of singers for Gilmour's parts.

Dark side is nothin about war... not much of it in the other floyd albums either. Sure he had alot of meanings about war and dad dying in his solo albums. but not so much that it's bothering. I think you just don't like him cause he's succesfull with material he wrote, and helped wrote and than left his companions. Btw, the guitarists don't sound like gilmour. both those two (doyle and snowy) have their own style of playing, and it suits floyd music great. though gilmour always will be the man

I dont deny darkside as a stellar album, along with all floyd fom 1970-1994. I love darkside, wywh, animals, meddle, the wall, the final cut, but I feel Waters sometimes wrote to much about war, war, war, insanity, war, his dad dieing, war, war, and more war. Do you see how saying war so much can be annoying. Imagine basing every song you write on this formula. I have to disagree my friend.Roger after all is the co creator of PINK FLOYD, I too am more of a DAVID and WRIGHT ( REST HIS SOUL )PINK FLOYD fan, but seeing as how Roger can sing the same tunes as DAVID and FLOYD.Roger is one hell of a writter though and most floyd tunes we know and love were written by him or co written by him.He deserves the respect for what he has given us too.Sadly with Richard gone now WE WILL never see another tour.... Great song but can we say GILMOUR and WRIGHT rip offs???? It seems the only things Roger can do besides write good lyrics is find people that sound like Gilmour on guitar and Wright on keyboards because he had to go being a arrogant and controlling asshole to the real band he once had called PINK FLOYD!!! That is why Gilmour will always be ahead of Roger, Floyd's sound in reality was Gilmour and Wright, and Waters was easily replacable....

he was an amazing man..still is. the fact that the words he sings are so relevant to every generation is because they are about life and how we are all the same. Some of us go in different directions but what we are made of is the same. Kids today should pick up a copy of the album Tea For The Tillerman. It might very wll be one of the best albums ever, if not the best. I also suggest Harry Chapin because he wrote about real people as well and died at 38. He was of the same stuff Cat is made of.

You are right, they did not kill in the name of god. Though Stalin and basically the communist powers not too long ago killed people, their own people for Believing IN god. And Bush today, invaded countries claiming god told him to do so. And the KKK has long been using religion as a tool for violence. What you must understand is that it doesn't have to be a particular religion, all it needs is somebody to come and manipulate the beliefs of a group of people in order to serve his own purpose.
