i've had that hp laptop and warning buy at own risk. less then 3 months and the hard drive became corrupt i had to buy a new hdd. after looking around forums and such it turns out theres wifi, hdd, motherboard, and the touch pad/power button problems. my lappy is still under repair and still worried if there are any other problems that might happen. last note i was planning on buying that dell but after reading the comments i'm not too sure.

Now both of these computers can be upgraded to about the same standards. However, if you customized both of these computers to be equally as good, the HP will be cheaper, and it looks better. Overall the HP, which i purchased, is a great buy. I also recommend that before you upgrade to something, Google it to see if it is worth it. Some upgrades do absolutely nothing after a certain point. Dell has a habit of including useless and unnoticeable upgrades just to make a little extra.

I disagree. HP has exceptional build and so does dell. It all depends on how you want it to look. In most cases HP's are cheaper and you get the same exact parts or even better parts. Dell is somewhat like apple. They charge more for the same parts than the competition. In my opinion HP is better and a few steps ahead of dell

A great computer, (i won't say laptop because it is much better than a laptop) the computer is sure to replace an old desktop. It's huge!!! I mean the screen is 20 inches!!! I'd say the only bad thing is that it weighs a massive 15 lbs. And it is really hard to find a laptop bag for it, but besides those two things, it is the best (won't say laptop) computer ever!!! I can't wait to get one myself!!!

actually it depends on the laptop and how well people take care of them... if you take poor care of a laptop, both the laptop itself and the inner parts (which by i mean defraging, registry error fixing and so on) it wont last long, if you take good care of laptops as i do with my desktops, they will last longer and up to 5 years

I have one and would rate it as an excellent point and shoot, light and well built, the movie mode is also excellent. Picture quality is good but not as sharp as my 2 high end digital SLR's but then it was about a tenth of the price so its about what I expected. Battery life is great and the charge time is very quick. I eneded up buying one for a friend who also rates it highly. One plus point is the interface is very simple like for example using an Ipod. For the price its superb.

crap camera. picture quality sux big time, very grainy when used inside with flash, face recognition is a joke if further then 3 meters, faces and background after 3 meters are really bad regardless of settings, I had better results with a lot cheaper cameras,...grrrrrrr I cant tell you how bad this piece of crap is. I have some 4 year old kodaks that do better, clearer and crisper jobs then this piece of junk. oh, yeah the shutter speed is like takes forever on 8mpx setting

Nobody mentions the fact that the SSD in the x300 has only a limited amount of read and writes it can do until it simple dies on you. Any, and I mean ANY, normal HDD lasts about 5 times longer. Time will tell. People will find out the hard way in a few years.

This browser looks pretty useful, but its proxing every connection through their servers. So no privacy or end-to-end encryption achievable at all, until they address that. Since all the browser layout rendering and codec processing is happening remotely I'm not sure how they'll do that, unless they embed VPN functiionalty into the browser.

My comment before my last one didn't show up. What I was saying was I am leaning towards the large companies b/c their components have been tested to work together most of the time. Sager uses powerful components which are not tested to work together (see my previous comment) which results in bulky pieces of crap ready to melt at any time! For example, I could take the engine out of a Dodge Viper and put it in a Chevy Camero SS but more than likely I am going to burn out the transmission! Same idea with these computers, powerful components but they are NOT tested to work together seamlessly and for long periods of time. The only recommendation I can make is if you are going to buy an "off brand" computer, do massive amounts of research first which it sounds like you are, good job!

All I have to say is "DO NOT BUY A P.O.S. SAGER!!!" I bought one of their $2500 so called "powerhouse computers" and its no better than an e-machine. Sager had to put 2 motherboards, 3 hard drives, a new outer case (it cracked), a cd-rom, and a monitor ribbon cable into it under warranty since its a piece of crap and when the motherboard went out again you would think lemon-laws would come ito place...ha, they told me to f-off! I ordered two of these laptops for work (One for myself and one for my business partner) I was highly impressed by the build quality and the system specs are perfect for the type of work we do. South African import laws are a bit tricky to get around however its fairly worth it. It still worked out cheaper for me to get Sager than buy something locally even with the VAT charges and shipping fees.
