Contracting is awesome! if you like adventure and excitement and getting paid well its the way to go. Most of the contractors over here are in better shape than the soldiers. Contractors want to be here, soldiers don't have a choice. This is my third tour to Iraq, but first as a civilian... it's way better.

I do feel for these guys, and hopefully by God's grace I will not suffer anything long term from being over here. However when we go through orientation we are told over and over again the dangers and that we are pretty much on our own if we were to get injured. It's no secret that we will not recieve workmans comp or unemployment. I know it sucks but nobody forced me to take this job so I do not plan on whinning when I don't get something that was never promised to me.

Yeah , that money can be a huge draw . I wonder if these companies are allowing driver to armor up the truck or not. If not these companies should really be held accountable for any and all damages. The government didn't punish, they established a fund for BP to pay those it has effected by this disaster. The market cut BP's stock price by more than half. On April 20, BP stock was $60.48 a share, on June 25 it was $27.05 a share. With 3.13 Billion shares outstanding that means BP's value went from $189.3 Billion to $84.7 Billion. That was a $100 Billion punishment.

This is clearly unethical and should be stopped. However, it's a bit of stretch to lay all blame on Nike. Nike owns almost no factories in the world as it contracts out most of its production, and asks suppliers to sign a "ethical standards" contract. It does spot checks, but largely, it trusts its suppliers. To blame Nike similar to blaming every Nike buyer for buying a product that is made with forced labor - you should have gone to the factory and checked yourself first!
