being scared (of anything) is an aweful thing. I can truly recommend practising Mindfulness, it can bring you a lot. After dealing with great fears for live in general, it changed my live completely. Accepting your fears in a friendly non-judging way, instead of fighting against it or hating yourself because of it, can be very relieving and healing! good luck and take care of your self

Thank you for that comment. It helps to better summarize the idea of mindfulness. My school counselor said it would help with my fear of death at a teen age. My problem is my mind is always thinking. When I go to bed, I've got nothing to think about, so my mind dives into the thoughts of death, instead of a sense of meditation and concentration, as well as ease of rest.

Lightkeepers is on the wrong track. Mindfulness is an excercise in practise. A practise you can do anywhere w/o anything. Its counterproductive to have to CONSUME anything to become mindful. In my case I don't want to consume anything I don't have to. I live in a society thats always informing me that I NEED their product to become whatever. This zinn guy is awesome. After awhile this excercise of mindfulness is rewarding beyond expectations. Just give it time. Listen to this man!

i agree, i smoked salvia, and it helped me become mind fullness. i wasnt able to think at all. its like all thoughts that i could possibly have were already in my head and it was up to my intuition to chose the right thought for the moment. mindfullness is being all knowing and powerful

I completely agree with the two comments beneath mine. As Jon's books explain, we live in an "ADHD world" where everyone is used to being constantly bombarded by one thing after the other without taking a moment to pause and breathe. That's why your mind says meditation is "boring": it has no idea how to deal with sitting in silence and awareness. It needs constant entertainment. Luckily, thanks to incredible people like Jon, this "dis-ease" can be changed.

I've spent lots of time going thru many GTD apps and configurations. my current iteration is worthy of this post. I use Mail.app with mailtags, iCal, Omnifocus and Journler. I can create todos from anywhere and it will sync everywhere. there's some complexity involved, but once it's all under the hood, the driving is smooth and simple. worth the effort!!! journler I use for notes and reference and such. I have circusponies NOTEBOOK, but it's too much for GTD, I use it for formal projects

I picked up his book recently and gotta say I agree when he mentions that calendar programs and other utilities attempt to organize your priorities but rather further can complicate your focus on what you need to do and how to do it. Therefore I want to ask here to anyone that reads this, what I should do instead? Google would have liked to buy Facebook - but it wasn't for sale and microsoft beat them in the courtship. this is really not an intimate environment. I love google, but they're better developers than actors. In my dreams, google masters the art of remote intimacy, outside of the search engine. Yeah I laughted my head off at that comment about myspace. I guess when they called their CSS classes whitetext15 and then promptly changed it to 18 blue text :-) That was them making it easy for users to customise :-D Or when they sued all the companies that help u customise their poor CSS. One interesting thing about all these websites having one common API: it doesn't just make it easier to develop k3wl w1dg3tz. It makes the sites easier to *crawl*, MAKING SEMANTIC SENSE OF IT. Aha, Google, aha. No need to write a custom screen-scraper for each site, in order to extract relationships.
