It was so nice for Newman to play a character like this. Not Hud, not Fast Eddie, not Frank Galvin, but Reggie Dunlop. A crowd pleasing sports movie that avoided cliches. Paul truly owned Reggie Dunlop and played it just right.

Try bridging the strings with your index finger without pushing down on the frets and use your other 3 to slap mute with. It's just time consuming and you really have to concentrate, it took me a long time when i first started trying to do it. Maybe you should have a look for some Bill 'The Buddha' Dickens bass books? There are a lot of slap exercises in music notation, tab and audio c.d.
