I remember it like it was yesterday...I was in my then boyfriend's room at his mom's house in Newark, DE when they announced on WMMR that Ricky had passed away. Just a few years earlier I had seen them live for the first time at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC but I've loved the Bs since my senior year of high school when the first album came out. Blip925 said it beautifully, so I'll just quote him/her: "We so needed the Bs then and now."

Thank you Kate for sharing such a sad, private time in your bands 80's period. Its never easy to deal with sudden death and during those days even when times were much more carefree and adventurous Aids was a silent terror. Having to deal with my brother passing away from brain cancer and my dad the following year, I know how numb it can leave you. It was only a matter of time. The women play with much more emotion and intensity than the men. It's only so long before all that emotion becomes unmanageable. Ratings will spike now. If they meet in the finals, attendance records will be set. It will get the highest television ratings ever. In the long run, it helps. Just too bad somebody had to get hurt.
