It's not my theory. It was made by a pilot who explained how hard it would be, even for a trained pilot to hit a building dead center with that kind of plane. One thing that makes me believe him is on tape you can see this explosion happen before the plane even hits the building. Point is, holograms are WAY more advanced than this video is showing. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a real man and a hologram of one. As if the public is let in on the latest technology...

i don't believe this is a hologram! haha it's hard. green screen is used everywhere but she is outlined with some sort of light. i would like to see more of that though used. we could really find that useful in some cases. I'm not sure what but it seems like a pretty cool gadget if it really is real. haha very cool though. haha and how can 9/11 planes were holograms? then what the hell crashed into the twin towers! haha

This may be veiw-able from from 360 angles. But that doesn't mean this is a true 3D image. These could be just 2-D images that look exactly the same from no matter what angle to you it at from, which means it's STILL not 3-D. BUT, if they can alter the technology to create a slight off set image only veiwable to each eye, you could simulate a true 3-D image.

I am 99% sure it is all true. This tech was realized a couple of years ago already, recently it became reliable thanks to better wide band connection and protocols. Before CNN it was used in conference rooms only, the biggest example was by Microsoft during a convention in Australia. The surpising thing is that it all went smooth in a live transmission, the cnn people must have some guts to try it in a national broadcast.

CGI - Computer Generated Illusion, just like Lord of the Rings, just like the hologram in total Recall, just because its on TV doesn't mean its a hologram. The guy is probably pre-recorded in the neighbouring studio and that interview was probably pre-recorded. Its amazing what you can do with video editing these days, can you not tell that the guy who was meant to be the hologram felt awkward? As if he knew it wasn't a hologram? This is so stupid. Having this "hologram" totally defeats the purpose of having a reporter. This "hologram" isn't any better than someone standing in the studio and talking. Wolf Blitzer says that an advantage of this "hologram" is that there is no one screaming in the background or people yelling, but the purpose of having a reporter on the scene is to give the viewer a look into the environment that he or she is reporting on. The only real "cool factor" in this effect is that it is done in real time. Considering the amount of data to be processed and bandwidth latency, I'd say its decent at best. For delays in the 0.5-1sec range in satellite transmissions, its ok. When you do it inside two studios next to each other, connected over fiber, you can do more stuff, because there are not bandwidth and render restrictions, so you can achieve more realism, like less artifacts, some shadows, reflections, virtual floor, etc.

They create a virtual cube inside the studio, and then match the coordinates with the ones of the Bluescreen studio. The motion control software moves the cameras to do the matchmoving and keep the perspective. nothing really fancy. Hollywood does this for years. In fact CNN's is CRAPPY. Many TV virtual studio setups do it better without artifacts, and almost 10 years ago. Believe it or not, you can do the same with a fast computer, a hi-res cam, proper lights and the software. Poor execution.

CNN didn't have projectors to take the 3D image and make a Hologram from. so to what they did was a camera trick, CNN took the 3D image data and merged it with live photoage (with the help of that big red tracking dot on the floor) to make it look like there was an actual hologram, even you could only see it on TV not in the studio it self (if you were there) It not a hologram but it was close.

I am not sure it doesn't exist, only that this example is not such. There's some interesting stories out on the techology news websites about virtual meetings with truly interactive projections. But yeah, this is no holigram any more than the MSNBC floating map is a hologram. Why not just use the giant superscreens in the back anyway?

CNN just showed how they did this..just a circular green room surrounded by 40 cameras..she cannot be seen by wolf except on the monitors..He is just looking above the red dot on the floor because that is the only way he knew where to look so you couldn't touch her. The hologram is only picked up in the cameras. Notice she doesn't walk around. The camera angles can change only.
