Its a good idea for people who are useless at tuning/restringing. And i suppose it could be handy when playing live and not have to change guitar every five minutes. But a les paul weighs a fair bit anyway, before the addition of computers and mechanisms. It must weigh a ton!

It blew me away. I had set a side $550 and was looking at getting an electric guitar and was checking out the epis as well as Gibson's and Fender's and when I played a VM in the store I was floored. The sound of it is what I wanted it's easy to play and affordable. I have always liked a natural finish. So it was the perfect match. For me it was a no brainer wait a few more months and I could save up a little bit more money and then buy it.

I don't know for sure, but I do not believe the Epi's are chambered. My theory is that the weight differences I have noticed between these may be due to to slightly different wood combinations in the body layers. Maybe someone else knows for certain why this is.

Is your epi chambered? I have heard some people say their epis were heavy. I know in 2006 Gibson started chambering but I don't know about epiphone. I like the chambering but you either love it or hate it.

Most guitars need a setup right away. That is one of the criticisms of Gibson they don't set them up good at the factory. I would recomend Dunlop straplocks. Changing out pots or caps could help the tone, with out breaking the bank.

Thanks for this video. I was getting really bummed with those Gibson prices, and I was really worried about the quality of the Epiphones. Unfortunately I will have too go the cheap route since this will be the first electric ax I purchase... but this vid did do well to defer some of my concerns. Thanks again man. Actually, I once owned a Gibson LP Studio, back when they put ebony fretboards on! I still like a good Epiphone at least as much, but not the older, Korean ones. Yuck. Besides, I cannot wear a heavy guitar anymore since I was in a bad car crash and broke my left collarbone. It hurts after while. So the Epi is also practical because it's fairly light.

Oh yes, I have a Standard Plus. $519 including Epiphone hard case, T-shirt, and Elixir strings! It's honestly the best Epi LP I've ever played -- it's got the mojo, or something. Many Epiphones need a setup right off the bat, but mine was somehow perfect. I'm changing out the electronics (but keeping the pickups) for a cheap but effective way to milk the most tone out of it. I am also adding Straploks and an Earvana compensated nut. It's worth it on this one.

I have a Epiphone Les Paul Classic and it is as good as a $2,000 Gibson. I compared them side by side in the shop and not only was the sound right there but the finish on the Epiphone was actually better then any of the Gibsons that were under $3,000. Mine came with Grover tuners and I have no problems with it staying in tune.

Tina is capable of writing (Nutbush), her collabs with Ike were how they got a deal in the 1st place but she prefers her slickly produced MOR from the worlds best writers. Whitney's voice was one of the best that had ever been heard so she didn't need to write, the same as Babs & Celine. But theres so much talentless stars about that don't sing too well, don't write & aren't even that attractive eg. Britney so why she even made it I've no idea. Thats not completely true. Artists of the past didn't all write their own stuff. Some of the greatest divas....Diana, Whitney, Barbara, Tina. They didn't write all their own music. There was alot of packaging even then. The punk bands, hair bands.....though creative, it came with a package of the time. Granted Id agree with one thing. "Artists" arent as creative anymore. There was alot more diversity in sound.
