Hi thepurpleshoew, the palatal stop is similar to a glottal stop, which is the kind of sound or sensation you experience when you gulp (where the soft palate, the spongy bit at the top and back of your throat, meets the the throat), but placed higher in the mouth - closer to the hard palate and not so much in the throat. Everything else you said pretty much sums it up! :) Oh and slightly off topic... her piano looks like chocolate and licorice, and I want to eat it!

Its quite obvious that its produced by obstructing airflow in the vocal tract, and it is also quite obvious that with this particular song, in my opinion it does not sound appealing, but rather that she is indeed choking. Tenho 27 anos. Nasci em 1980. Não sei como fui gostar das musicas dessa epoca. Meu pai tinha muitos discos bons, mas, eu não costumava ouvi-los. Passaei a ouvir musica la pelos meus 12 anos, mas...nada me agradava. Era tudo ruim...então resolvi explorar os discos do meu pai e descobri aqueles "tesouros". Elis...Chico....Pixinguinha...Cartola....etc...etc...etc. Musica não é questão de estilo. É de gosto. E graças a Deus o meu e o da mairoia de vocês é o melhor possivel! AMEM!
