And to your second statement: In comparison with contemporary dance music, the song is "slower", but as a song in itself, it's not "too slow" - there is no bpm limit that a song must cross so that it's a "good" song. But if you want fine contemporary dance music, then MB isn't a good choice, either, because - again - it's done without artistic effort or creativity, it's just the same as usual. Get a Daft Punk Album for example, or a good house sampler, and learn what true creativity is :)

It's not even a documentation of "zeitgeist" or contemporary taste anymore in the way it might have been 10 or 20 yrs ago. As I said in my first statement, covers (and remixes) are a legitimate form of art, but they should be done properly and in an elaborate way. MB's version of this song is NOT, he doesn't add anything what a machine couldn't do as well.

First of all, Master Blaster has produced a series of hits, that are both original and appealing to the general public (not only remixes), thus proving that the group possesses the ability to create interesting music. Secondly, they definitely have improved the song in many aspects, especially regarding the tempo (which is too slow in the original song to fit the likings of the general 21st century audience). I find this song charming, and a must-have.

There are indeed covers that are quite good and an interesting alternative (Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb), or sometimes even better than the original (PSB - Always on my mind). Thing here is that Master Blaster doesn't add anything really interesting to the original - they never do. You could take ANY italo disco track, speed it up, give it a bit more bass and add some cheap samples, it would sound like this. And anyone could do that with a not too expensive software and some free time.
